Deceiving someone for personal gain is fraud. Common types of fraud are telemarketing fraud, identity theft, health insurance fraud and pyramid schemes. In Wisconsin, theft through fraud for less than $2,500 is a misdemeanor. Any value above that is a felony, with a possible conviction of a Class G felony.
